Student Senate to vote on LGBT seat legislation today

Here’s Monday’s print story.

And here is a copy of the legislation courtesy Alex Mace, as I seem to have deleted the one that was sent to me (a pox upon SMU’s mailbox size limit!):

So what happens if Senate approves this bill? Because it would change the Student Constitution, the student body would have to ratify the bill before it could go into effect.

Expect a lively Senate meeting today. Sen. Harvey Luna (Dedman I) said that he knew many supporters of the bill will speak to Senate today. But we can also expect to hear arguments against the bill (namely on the question of representation, and whether a general senator can address LGBT issues).

I’ll post a link to the live-blog shortly before the meeting, as usual.
