Student Body Vice Presidential Candidate Joseph Esau is also running for a Lyle seat, provided  he doesn’t win SBVP. Find his info here.

Harris and Ishmael did not return a questionnaire. Sandoval could not provide a photo because of technical difficulties.

Why are you running for Lyle Senator?

I want to continue to make a positive difference in the lives of students. This year, I co-authored a piece of legislation with President Torres which gives us more reading days in the upcoming school years. I would like to make more changes like this. Also, I want to be able to take the ideas of students and put them into action.

What do you hope to accomplish as Lyle Senator?

If elected, I plan to run for Speaker of the Senate inside the chamber. In this position, I will be able to continue the work that I have started this year. We have made improvements to the efficiency of our meetings, as well as the understanding of parliamentary procedure. I would hope make meetings more productive and professional, and more accessible to outsiders.

Why should SMU students vote for you?

I am involved in a variety of different activities, and I feel that I have interactions with a diverse group of students. As a representative of the students, I will gather a multitude of opinions, allowing me to best reflect the views of my constituents.

What’s your favorite thing about SMU?

The campus!

What, if anything, needs to change at SMU?

School institutions need to be more available and helpful to students, such as Financial Aid, RLSH, Park N’ Pony, etc.

Why should SMU students vote for you?

I’m actively working to enact positive change in SMU’s shortcomings.

What’s your favorite thing about SMU?

The students. We have one of the most intelligent, involved, talented, and dare I say attractive communities I’ve ever been a part of. The friends I’ve made at SMU are the best I’ve ever had, and I wouldn’t trade them for the world.

What, if anything, needs to change at SMU?

SMU’s implementation of outdated technology. There are countless instances where crippled and outdated software have adversely affected students. The online housing software that was built nearly a decade ago won’t be updated for another two years splits up roommates for no reason and causes problems where there doesn’t need to be. The online bookstore is currently the only place to see textbook requirements for classes, is incredibly difficult to navigate, and charges you about twice as much as you can get online. Access is just plain frustrating.
