Torres, Other SMU Students Lobby Texas Legislature To Keep Texas Equalization Grants

I couldn’t make it down to Austin to see Student Body President Jake Torres and other SMU students lobby the TX lege to keep the Texas Equalization Grants (or rather, not make any cuts unless absolutely necessary). But The Dallas Morning News‘ Austin Bureau did.

Here’s a quote from Jake they caught:

“I have a lot of fear right now that the university will have a hard time recruiting students that will contribute to diversity, regardless of their economic background,” he said. “It’s a great outlet for great students to contribute to the state. We just need a little bit of grant money to get there.”
