Why Did Senate Let Five Organizations Make Up Their MOM Meeting?

Senate’s actions during yesterday’s meeting caught the eye of Lori Stahl at the Dallas Morning News. She wonders why five organizations were allowed to makeup their MOM meeting.

As Organizations Chair Bethany Mackingtee discussed last week, those five organizations took responsibility for their actions before the committee. Other clubs were seen as lacking in organization, leadership or mission (e.g. MESA was a little too disorganized and the committee felt it would be better for them to start over in the charter process rather than finish the one they’re in now). Many blamed a person or their advisor or past clubs who didn’t pass down any knowledge. Mackingtee told Senate that the five spared all acknowledged what they did wrong and didn’t try to pass off the blame.

Additionally, several of the revoked clubs didn’t even get in touch with Senate at all.
