Amidst the talk of changes to the athletic admissions policy, Faculty Senate also briefly discussed recent trends in football players’ graduation.
The trend wasn’t good.
“Football is going in the wrong direction,” Faculty Senate President Linda Eads said.
Only 55 percent of football players graduate. From 1998 to 2005, that number was 65 percent.
Eads said this is something Faculty Senate needs to be worried about and monitoring.
How will a winning football team affect this rate? Eads said there’s no way of knowing. It could go up or down.
