Ranking the Fifteen Biggest Student Organization Budgets at SMU

Pick up today’s print product (or read it here) and you’ll notice my story on student organization budgets—including how the Senate Finance Committee determines the amount each organization gets.

For that story, I combed through all 116 budget reports that are listed on the Student Senate websiteI wanted to see which organizations got the most money from Senate (which gets its money from your student fees, by the way). I’m guessing you’ll be interested in this information as well.

The Biggest Organization Budgets:

  1. Program Council Concert Committee – $105,000
  2. SAMSA – $72,634
  3. Intramurals – $55,009.99
  4. Student Foundation – $50,000
  5. Student Senate Communications Committee – $45,000
  6. Student Senate Comptroller – $28,879
  7. SPARC Alternative Breaks – $16, 096
  8. (tie) International Relations Council and Mock Trial – $15,000
  9. PC Films – $13,000
  10. Ice Hockey – $12,000
  11. (tie) AALEC and Indian Student Association – $11,000
  12. Men’s Lacrosse – $10,000
  13. Program Council Executive Committee – $9,550
  14. Program Council Sing Song Committee – $8,000
  15. Best Buddies – $7,500
